Synti App Creator

Describe the app you need in your own words, and Synti App Creator makes it on your ⁣computer⁤. This guide takes you from the first launch to sharing what you made.

01

Get started

Synti App Creator is free to download and free to use. You need a Claude or ChatGPT account - the plan you already have works. A paid plan works best, because making a whole app is a real piece of work.

  1. Download Synti App Creator for your ⁣computer⁤ from its page on this site, and open it.
  2. Read the two short documents it shows first, and press “Agree and continue”.
  3. Connect your AI. Choose Claude or ChatGPT, and sign in with your account once. If you are already signed in to Claude on this computer, it is simply used - there is nothing to do.

Tip You do not need an account with us to make and use apps. Signing in is for a plan, and for rating apps.

02

Make your first app

Every app starts as a sentence. Say what it is for, what it keeps, and what you want to see - the way you would explain it to a friend, in any language.

  1. Press “New app” - the tile with a plus at the start of your shelf.
  2. Describe the app you need, and press “Create”.
  3. Its screens are drawn first, with a line on what it will do. Look through them, and ask for anything to be different in a sentence - they are drawn again. When you are happy, press “Make it”.
  4. It is made and tried out while you watch. When you see “Your app is ready”, press “Open it”.

Tip Name the things you will keep and what you want to see each day: “my students, their lessons each week, and who has paid” gets a better app than “a piano app”.

03

While it is being made

It is a conversation, like Claude or ChatGPT. You see what is being made as it happens, in plain words, and a list of the steps beside it.

Add “also make it…” at any moment, and it is taken into the work. Press Stop whenever you like. What was already made is kept: click the app on the shelf, and making carries on where it stopped.

Tip Leave Synti App Creator open until your app is made - quitting stops the work. You can make several apps at once with Premium Creator.

04

Use your apps

Your apps sit on the shelf under “Your apps”. Click one to open it in a window of its own, with its own icon, like any other app on your computer. A small dot marks the ones that are open. Drag them to put them in your own order.

Every app has two round buttons at the top right: Ask AI, and Settings. Ask AI opens the app's assistant: tell it what you want in plain words, and it can do anything the app's own buttons can - and several things in a row. Before it deletes or replaces anything, it asks you first.

05

Change an app

Right-click an app on the shelf to see everything you can do with it.

The new version is made beside the old one and swapped in only once it works. If a change does not work out, the app stays exactly as it was - and everything it holds is never touched.

  1. Right-click the app and choose “Change…”.
  2. Say what should change - “add a due date to each item and sort by it” - and press “Change it”.
  3. Changed your mind later? Choose “Versions…” and press “Use this one” beside any earlier version.
06

Keep your shelf tidy

From the same menu: “Duplicate” makes a copy beside the app, with empty data. “Choose a picture…” gives it an icon of yours, and on a Mac “Make the icon again…” draws a new one with Claude. “Move to” sends the app to another workspace.

“Move to Trash…” takes an app off the shelf with everything it holds. Nothing is erased: open Trash in the sidebar to “Put Back” an app, or to delete it for good.

A workspace is a separate set of apps, like in Notion or Slack - one for home and one for work, say. Switch or make one from the menu at the top of the sidebar. More than one workspace comes with Premium Creator.

07

Share it in the App Hub

Proud of what you made? Publish it to the Synti App Hub, and anyone on a Mac, a Windows PC or a Linux computer can get their own copy, with their own data. Publishing comes with Premium Creator, which is free during the beta.

  1. Right-click the app and choose “Publish to App Hub…”.
  2. Its page is shown as people will see it. Press “Fill in with AI” to have its texts written for you (this one needs Claude), then change any word you like.
  3. Choose who can see it: “Everyone”, “Anyone with the link”, or “Only people I name”.
  4. Leave “Include my data” off unless you want people to start with a copy of what you put in. Then press “Publish”.

Tip To share a new version, publish again from the same menu. “Remove from App Hub…” takes it out - people who already got it keep their copy.

08

Where your things are

Everything an app keeps is in a folder on your computer - never on our servers. To see it, open Settings, then Storage, and press “Show in folder”.

An app made here has no connection to us at all. It opens with no internet, and it keeps working even if Synti Apps went away. Only what needs the outside world does: its assistant, to reach your AI, and anything you asked it to fetch from the web.

09

Settings

Open Settings from the gear at the top right of the window. Your account is at the bottom of the sidebar.

  1. Account - sign in with your email. No password: we email you a code. You need it for a plan, and to rate apps.
  2. Subscription - your plan, and the way to change it.
  3. AI - the AI connection your apps use, and a way to add another.
  4. Storage - where everything lives on this computer.
  5. About - the version you have.
10

When something goes wrong

An app does not open: Synti App Creator shows what the app said. Ask for a change and describe the problem - it can be fixed like anything else.

Making stopped part-way: the app waits on the shelf as “Not finished”. Click it, and making carries on where it stopped.

It is not quite what you wanted: ask for a change. As often as you like, and it costs nothing from us.
